Job Description

Role Overview: ERP Data Analyst The ERP Data Analyst is responsible for the integrity, extraction, and transformation of complex datasets within systems like SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or Workday. This role bridges the gap between technical database management and business inte ligence, ensuring that every transaction recorded in the ERP translates into a clear strategic insight. Key Responsibilities 1. Data Governance & Integrity ● Master Data Management (MDM): Oversee the "Golden Record" for vendors, customers, and parts to prevent duplicates and errors. ● Audit Readiness: Ensure data entry folows compliance standards (SOX, GDPR) so that f inancial reports are audit-proof. ● Validation: Create automated checks to identify "orphan" records or mismatched data between modules (e.g., an invoice without a corresponding purchase order). 2. Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) ● SQL Mastery: Write complex queries to pul data directly from ERP relational databases. ● Legacy Migration: Support the business during ERP upgrades or migrations by mapping data from old systems to the new schema. ● Integration: Ensure data flows correctly between the ERP and third-party applications (CRMs, Payrol, or Warehouse Management Systems). 3. Advanced Reporting & KPIs ● Cross-Module Analysis: Connect the dots between different departments (e.g., how "Production Delay" in the Manufacturing module affects "Cash Flow" in the Finance module). ● Dashboard Development: Build real-time visualizations in Power BI, Tableau, or Crystal Reports that pul directly from ERP views. ● Predictive Analytics: Use historical ERP data to forecast inventory needs or identify potential revenue leakage. 4. Business Process Optimization ● Workflow Analysis: Use data to find bottlenecks in the ERP workflow (e.g., "Why does it take 5 days for an AP invoice to be approved?"). ● Training & Support: Act as a subject matter expert for end-users on how to pull their own reports without breaking data structures. Required Technical Skills Category Tools & Competencies ERP Platforms SAP (S/4HANA), Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Odoo. Databases Advanced SQL, PostgreSQL, or PL/SQL. BI Tools Power BI (DAX), Tableau, or Looker. Spreadsheets Expert-level Excel (Power Query, VBA, Pivot Tables). Scripting Python or R for advanced data cleaning and automation. Professional Qualities ● Systemic Thinking: Understanding that a change in the "Inventory" module has a ripple effect on "Accounting." ● Meticulousness: In an ERP, a single misplaced decimal point can throw off an entire balance sheet. ● Communication: The ability to explain technical data constraints to non-technical department heads.
